I.d.K. Mansun veröffentlichen im Frühjahr einen ausführlichen Rückblick über die eigene Bandgeschichte via Parlophone. Bekanntlich steht Keys To The World - Richard Ashcrofts neues Studioalbum unmittelbar bevor. Den Song Cry Til The Morning kann man schon mal < hören >. Tracklisting ist nochmal zu lesen i.d.K. It seems like years ago that the Awful Sparks tentatively took the stage for their London debut at some art party in the East End. Since those innocent summer nights in June, all manner of rock and roll has ensued. Over the summer, London burned with rock in the north and south, east and west, as we covered the capital with our chuff-rock stabbings. By the time autumn leaves fell from the trees, the word was starting to spread about your intrepid heroes. Promoters clamoured to book the boys. Patrick literally beat off record label A&R men with a stick. A friendly offer by man-of-the-moment producer Paul Epworth to produce the band’s debut single ended in a bare-chested drunken wrestling match on a Spitalfields pavement, which Oliver nearly won. November saw our first sortie outside of London, a flying visit to Southend-on-Sea to support Komakino at the legendary Dirty Hearts club. It was an unforgettable experience, especially the XR3i’s on the Golden Mile. We love you, Southend. Just days later, in our final gig of the year, we had the pleasure to support the thoroughly excellent Good Shoes, who are actually a bit good and people have heard of them. The band has been thriving on a personal level as well. Gareth finally got his pilot’s license, which will allow him to pursue his dream of establishing a Newbury-Bangkok chartered airline and introductions service. Daniel was voted “Best Wearer of Jeans and a White T-Shirt: Lead Guitarist Category” in Spuffa magazine, a Shoreditch chuff repository. Spencer had a successful trial with Dulwich Hamlet FC and will join the club as reserve goalkeeper in January. Oliver was acquitted of all charges after the judge ruled that a chincilla could not be admitted as a witness. And in a Paris ceremony, Patrick received the Legion d’Honnuer from French president Jacques Chirac, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the ‘mod’ cause. In celebration of the "Awful Sparks", French youths spent the next fortnight joyously burning cars. We’ve got some great plans for the future. After taking December off, we will be back in force for January, with four London gigs. More will follow throughout the year, hopefully including some further afield. New material is in the pipeline too. We are also pleased to announce that, from early March onwards, the Awful Sparks will be a fully sustainable, carbon-neutral band. Inspired by our god Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, we will be leaving our jobs and homes in South London to move into an agricultural commune in Dorest, where we will rear sheep and pigs, as well as growing seasonal vegetables. It will be a non-stop orgy of sweetmeats and elderflower cordial. Our chutney will defeat allcomers at county fairs and Womens' Institute fundraisers. Patrick will rule this commune with an iron fist. We will be doing our bit for climate change as well. While stumbling drunk through Soho’s infamous porn alley, Gareth was stopped by a charity clipboard girl who took his fancy. Thinking he was donating to a fund for retired greyhounds, he inadvertently signed the Kyoto Protocol. The band is therefore obliged by international law to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 40% in 2006. We intend to achieve this by selling Patrick’s car for scrap iron and carrying our equipment everywhere by hand, setting out for gigs days in advance if necessary. Get in touch if you want to buy a car. We’d like to thank all of you for your support over the last year, and we hope to see you in 2006. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! It's nearly Christmas, and to end 2005, we have a message from Rich from you all !!! *** Hello, Another year gone, another bunch of gigs finished. So from me and the lads we'd like to thank you all for turning out in the thousands ( 200,000 in the UK this year ) and for getting the new album and generally supporting what we do. It's always a risk when you try and do something a bit different, and for us it's been a brilliant buzz knowing that you all dug the new album! The gig's have been totally exhausting, but rocking, every country we've gone this year has blown us away. We can't wait to get back to you, and hopefully get to some new places and show you how it's done. So now, it's nothing till January when we'll commence mixing some live tracks to see where we are with regards to a live album, then we're off to Europe with Oasis, which will be a ball! See ya then! Do you ride on down the hillside In a buggy you have made When you land upon your head Then you bin slayed ! IT'S CHRISTMAS!! Rich x Richard Ashcroft - Keys To The World Tracklisting: 1.
