Alan Confrey von Blood or Whiskey aus Dublin ist tot. Der 33jährige Flötenspieler starb bereits am vergangenen Donnerstag an einem Herzinfarkt, kurz nachdem er von einer Schottlandtour wieder nach hause kam. Ein kurzes Statement der Band liest sich wien folgt:

Ähnliches tat die Band schon Weihnachten 2004, als sie für die Truppen im Irak auftraten. Die Band sagt dazu:

Da Drummer Josh Freese gerade mit seiner Viertband, den Nine Inch Nails, unterwegs ist, wird seinen Platz Byron McMackin von Pennywise einnehmen.Aus Protest gegen die Robbenjagd hat Morrissey betont, das er bis auf weiteres nicht in Kanada auftreten wird. Der frühere Smiths-Sänger und strenge Vegetarier dazu:

The Canadian Prime Minister also states that the slaughter is necessary because it provides jobs for local communities, but this is an ignorant reason for allowing such barbaric and cruel slaughter of beings that are denied life simply because somebody somewhere might want to wear their skin. Construction of German gas chambers also provided work for someone - this is not a moral or sound reason for allowing suffering.

ha! die vandals können sich mal ficken! findest du es ehrenswert, wenn leute ihr leben für ihr land aufs spiel setzen? diese aussage ist doch sowas von dumm! wenn die soldaten da nicht sein möchten hätten sie sich vorher überlegen können ob sie zur armee gehen. wer sich erst verpflichtet und danach jamemrt danach kein mitleid verdient. jedenfalls nicht meins. was erwartet man denn wenn man zur armee geht? dass man fangen spielt? gerade in den usa weiss man doch womit das verbunden ist. diese opferrolle die sie versuchen einzunehmen läuft nicht. im irak 2004 hatte immerhin die ganze irakische bevölkerung ausgansspere damit die soldaten feiern können. das ist befreiung!
